UNCHAIN goes to Istanbul

15-18 October 2024, Istanbul, Turkey – UNCHAIN took the stage during one of the most prestigious global transport events; The IRF World Congress. Organized by the International Road Federation (IRF), this prestigious event brought together leaders and innovators in road infrastructure and logistics. UNCHAIN, represented by Sergio Fernández Balaguer from EMT Madrid, took the stage on October 17 during a technical session.

The UNCHAIN project participated in the IRF World Congress in Istanbul, Turkey, an event organized by the International Road Federation (IRF) that brought together global experts in road infrastructure and transportation. On October 17, UNCHAIN took part in a technical session titled “Sustainable Freight Transport and Logistics,” where Sergio Fernández Balaguer from EMT Madrid represented the project.

Moderated by Zacharias Maridakis from Aegean Motorway S.A., the session gathered insights from a diverse lineup of speakers. In addition to Sergio Fernández Balaguer’s presentation on tools for sustainable logistics developed through the UNCHAIN project, other topics included analyses of truck overload behavior in the Philippines by Philip James Dela Cruz Maluping, regulatory changes in EU road freight transport by Ülkü Tanriverdi, strategies for enhancing motorway service stations by Alp Gürdil, and sustainable freight transportation between continents in Istanbul by Mehmet Kaya.

The session offered a platform for rich discussions around the future of sustainable freight and logistics, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in achieving more efficient and eco-friendly transportation systems. UNCHAIN’s presence at the IRF World Congress underscored its commitment to advancing sustainable urban logistics solutions on a global stage.
