UNCHAIN will develop a communication channel between cities and logistic operators, easing the acquisition of existing authorizations and implementing an alert system to communicate the regulation and access restrictions in force. This service will make the implementation of measures more effective and will also support local authorities in the dynamic definition of regulations. To accommodate the policy needs and provide evidence-based support for regulation setting, UNCHAIN will develop a computational environment that will be able to evaluate the effect of alternative regulations on the performance of the freight distribution system. To this end, this service will develop alternative scenarios such as street closures, alternative delivery pick-up and delivery time windows, vehicle size and weight restrictions, etc. These scenarios will be used as inputs to assess the potential impact on the productivity of the freight logistics vehicles, the total time needed to perform the distribution activities, etc.
