The UNCHAIN project proudly participated in the annual POLIS Conference 2024, held in Karlsruhe, Germany, from November 27–28. This premier event brought together experts, policymakers, and practitioners to exchange insights on sustainable urban mobility, with a strong presence from UNCHAIN’s project partners.
During the session “Future-Proof Mobility: Big Ideas for Small & Medium-Sized Cities,” Esmee Hof, representing Stad Mechelen, shared the city’s innovative approach to tackling construction logistics. She discussed unique challenges such as fragmented supply chains and rising renovation demands and showcased policies and pilot projects under the UNCHAIN framework—like construction hubs and reserved loading zones—that are driving sustainable solutions.
In the session “Unlocking the Last Mile: Innovations in Urban Freight,” Eloísa Álvarez de Perea Llamas from EMT Madrid highlighted strategies to enhance urban logistics efficiency. Her presentation focused on how innovations supported by UNCHAIN are shaping the future of sustainable last-mile delivery, contributing to cleaner and more efficient urban freight systems.
These sessions underscored UNCHAIN’s commitment to creating scalable and replicable solutions for urban logistics challenges across Europe.
