Barcelona, November 2025
The UNCHAIN Project took the stage at the Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress 2025, where EMT Madrid, one of its key partners, contributed to shaping the conversation on the future of sustainable urban logistics and smarter mobility systems.
Representing EMT Madrid, Sergio Fernández Balaguer participated in several high-level sessions, bringing the insights and progress of the UNCHAIN initiative to an international audience of policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders.
On 5 November, Fernández Balaguer joined the session “Improving Logistics Services at a Lower Carbon Footprint,” where he took part in the debate “Similarities and Differences Between European and North American Last Mile Contexts.” His intervention offered a European perspective on sustainable last-mile delivery, drawing on UNCHAIN’s real-world experiences and pilot actions that demonstrate how innovation and data can reduce emissions while improving efficiency.
Later that day, EMT Madrid also participated in “Smarter Logistics: Micro-Hubs & Data-Driven Delivery,” a roundtable exploring how digital tools and urban micro-hubs can transform logistics models to make cities cleaner, quieter, and more livable.
On 6 November, UNCHAIN’s work on urban data standards was featured in the session “Formalising Interoperable Mobility and Public Space Data Standards for Cities,” organised by EIT Urban Mobility, POLIS, and the Open Mobility Foundation (MDS). EMT Madrid presented ongoing efforts to develop interoperable urban data spaces, addressing key challenges in data sharing and governance that are essential for the next generation of smart city solutions.
The participation of EMT Madrid underlined UNCHAIN’s commitment to advancing data-driven, interoperable, and low-emission mobility systems across Europe. Through collaborative research and innovative pilot projects, UNCHAIN continues to demonstrate how coordinated logistics solutions can contribute to decarbonisation and urban sustainability goals.
👏 A big thank you to EMT Madrid for representing UNCHAIN at Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress 2025 and for showcasing how collaborative innovation can help cities transition toward a greener and more efficient mobility future.
